Conveying confidence

You’ll be surprised at how much you can get more of what you want out of life when you are conveying confidence. People love a confident person. It has been shown that people are more willing to follow someone confident rather than someone who has low self-esteem.

1. Have faith in yourself

You cannot convey confidence if you don’t believe in yourself and in what you are doing. If you want to start a business, for example, you need to conceive that your business is going to be successful. If you doubt yourself, then you can’t possibly project genuine confidence.

2. Be a reliable person others can trust

It is more trivial to act confident when you are surrounded by others who believe in and count on you. When you convey genuine confidence, it won’t be hard to find followers to your cause. They will be attracted to your strength and will feel comfortable that you know what you are doing.

3. Create an environment for others to succeed

You’re conveying confidence when you’re promoting an environment of success for all, especially if you’re in a position of power. Confident people don’t fear competition. People will notice that you aren’t afraid of being upstaged, and they will recognize your confidence because you’re not afraid of other’s success.

4. Keep your cool

People will lose their confidence in your abilities to lead if you show tempers and overreactions to all kinds of situations coming your way. They will view this as a weakness and will suspect you lack confidence. Once that happens, it’s hard to turn that image of you around in their minds. Try to remain composed even during tense situations.

5. Practice good mannerism

It might not be fair, but we are often judged by our appearance. One of the best ways to convey confidence is to make a good first impression with the proper gestures and body language. Stand tall, make eye contact and shake hands firmly and confidently.

6. Dress for success

This tip goes well with the last one. If you want to feel more confident, then dress the part. Take some time in the morning to make sure your outfit and hygiene are really on point. The time spent doing this will easily pay off down the road when you feel and act more confident.

7. Be aware of your competences

If you can appreciate your strengths and capabilities, then you will naturally be more confident. Having a good grasp of what you are good at, what you enjoy, and what you know will allow you to project more confidence.

ACTIONABLE STEPS

1. Focus more on the positives.

Having a positive attitude and mindset about things is necessary to conveying confidence. Daily affirmations can help shift your thinking toward the positives. You’ll find plenty of resources online that can give you the affirmations you need, or you can create your own. To make the affirmations more effective, say them out loud every day.

2. Learn from any past failures, and improve yourself.

Everyone makes mistakes and had failures in their life. Don’t dwell in your past. Learn from it, and move on to improve yourself. You can’t fix what has happened in your past. You can only live for today, and make it better for the future.

3. Surround yourself with those who have your best interest in mind.

People around you can determine your success and affect your self-confidence. If you surround yourself with “negative” people, those who have a habit of complaining, pessimistic attitudes, and see themselves more like a “victim” of something or someone, then you’ll eventually be dragged down in the same direction. Likewise, if you associate yourself with “positive” people, who look with optimism and “can do” attitude toward their future, then you’ll be on your way to a brighter and more confident future. Ask three people you know what they think are your strengths and weaknesses. This will prove that you are better at things than you think. It can also help you improve on the areas that are considered weaknesses. Once you improve on some of these key weaknesses, you will be naturally more confident.
